É Natal/Christmas time
Foi na sexta-feira passada (último dia do fim-de-semana, portanto) que a malta emigrada em Riade resolveu fazer o seu jantar de Natal colectivo. Os anfitriões foram o Carla e o Nuno Vieira, e todos contribuimos com uma iguaria (excepto os sauditas a quem a Maria Ferreira Martins pediu quase insistentemente para que se excusassem a levar algo! :/O jantar foi por isso muito variado em paladares, cores, formas, etc. Como não poderia deixar de ser nesta altura festiva, também tivémos a habitual troca de presentes, mas com uma variante. De acordo com regras pré-estabelicidas havia a possibilidade de se "roubar" o presente de outrém. Foi uma rebaldaria cheia de graça.
It was last Friday (last day of the week-end) that the foreign community immigrated in Riyadh gathered for their Christmas dinner. The hosts were Carla and Nuno Vieira, and we all contributed with something to eat (except for the Saudis to whom Maria Ferreira Martins insistently asked not to take anything! :/
The dinner consisted of an assorted variety of tastes, colours, forms... As expected we also had the usual Christmas present exchange, but with a small variant. According to some pre-established rules one had the chance to "steal" someone else's present. It was havoc, but with great fun.

Foi sem duvida uma noite para ficar na memória. O ambiente estava excelente e ha muito que nao ria assim tanto! Ai ai, so de pensar na cara do Murabak quando descobriu que a caixa dos altifalantes tinha apenas uma cafeteira la bem no fundo hehehehehe... "espirito Natalicio contemporaneo"? Talvez... a Patricia (que estava toda contente no inicio por ser a ultima a escolher presente) é que não se divertiu assim tanto quanto nós... devia estar a ver que a vez dela nunca mais chegava! :o)

It was without doubt a memorable night. The ambience/environment was excellent and I hadn't laughed so much in so long! Man... just to think of Murabak's face when he found out that the box only contained a coffee pot hehehehehe... "contemporary Christmas spirit"? Maybe... but Patricia (who was all happy in the beginning for being the last one to choose a present) wasn't having as much fun as the rest of us. I think she was wondering if her turn would ever come!
