Sérgio Vieira de Mello

Sérgio Vieira de Mello, Alto Comissário do Direitos do Homem, brasileiro, foi assassinado em Bagdade, juntamente com cerca de 20 colegas, num atentado terrorista. Há duas semanas atrás, por iniciativa da Missão Permanente da Federação Russa, a comunidade internacional, e a ONU, prestaram-lhe homenagem erguendo um busto frente ao edifício onde trabalhou.

Obviamente voluntariei-me e contribui naquilo que era necessário. Foi o primeiro grande evento deste escritório em que participei. A memória mais interessante será a de ter conhecido pessoalmente o Sr. Kofi Annan.

Two weeks ago, as a result of an iniciative of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation, the international community, and the United Nations, payed him homage by placing his bust in front of the building where he used to work

Obviously, I volunteered for whatever taks were necessary. It was the first great event I took part. The most interesting memory will be to have had the opportunity to meet personally Mr. Kofi Annan.
