Saudades
Uma das coisas que irei certamente sentir falta quando deixar a Arábia Saudita é o tempo. Bem sei que o Verão torna-se demasiado quente, e quase insuportável, mas o Outono tem sido absolutamente fantástico. Faz-me lembrar a Primavera portuguesa. Hoje sai de casa pelas 8h45. O sol morno brilhava, num azul fantástico de céu. De dia anda -se perfeitamente de t-shirt e calções. Há noite basta uma camisa mais quente!...
One of the things I'll certainly miss about Saudi Arabia is the weather. Even though, Summer can become extremely warm and almost unbearable, Autumn has been simply beautiful and reminds me of Portuguese Spring. Today I left home at 8h45. A warm sun shone in the most beatiful blue sky. During the day you don't need more than a t-shirt and shorts. At night, a warm shirt is enough.

Finalmente iniciei-me no golf. Depois de 6 lições e muitas horas no driving range, aventurei-me no campo, juntamente com dois colegas que foram também mentores durante esta minha experiência.
Fantástico. Tudo. Primeiro, a começar pelo tempo que esteve sempre óptimo. Talvez 30 graus, muito sol, uma ligeira briza a soprar de quando em vez. A paisagem, bonita, como se quer. Os campos de golf parecem verdadeiros oásis neste país. Por fim, o resultado. Nada mau para uma primeira vez e para quem nunca tinha experimentado um taco que não fosse o iron 7. Estive quase a fazer um buraco dentro do par e apenas falhei por uma tacada. Um feito. Agora, é continuar com as aulas e com as muitas horas no driving range para aperfeiçoar a técnica. Ficou a vontade de fazer visitas semanais ao campo.
Já perto do fim do jogo juntaram-se a nós o Manel e a Maria, o Nuno e a Carla. Foi o convívio pós-jogo junto à idílica piscina do Arizona (o Arizona é um condomínio). Foi também uma oportunidade para o Manuel e o Nuno experimentarem bater umas bolas. Tal foi o sucesso que já decidiram começar a ter aulas.

I've had finally my first experience in a golf course. After 6 lesson, and many hours in the driving range I decided to venture for the real thing. I went with two colleagues, who turned out to be my mentors throughout the whole experience. It was fantastic. Everything. To start with, with the weather, which was excellent. About 30 degrees celsius, a lot of sunshine, and an occasional refreshing breeze. The landscape was simple beautiful, nothing less to be expected from a golf course, which resemble oasis in this country. Finally, the result. Considering it was my first time, and the only club I'd tried with had been a 7 iron, it was very satisfying. I did one of the holes almost inside the par (missed by a stroke!). Now, I must continue with my classes, the endless hours in the driving range, and continue the quest to perfect my technique. Close to the end some friends joined us for the after-match moments of leisure: Manuel, Nuno, Maria and Carla. We had lunch and some drinks by the idyllic swimmingpool of Arizona (Arizona is a compound). It was also an opportunity for Manuel and Nuno to have their first experience, which turned out to be a major sucess, and a result they'll soon start their classes. Very soon, I'll put online the pictures of Portugal and Istanbul.

Turquia/Turkey
Parto hoje à noite para a Turquia para uma curta semana de férias. São as férias do Ramadão, que se dão pelo nome de Eid. Esta semana é praticamente feriado nacional. Regresso a Riade no dia 10 de Novembro. Durante esta semana irei visitar Constantinopla. Brevemente poderão ver as fotografias on-line.
Tonight I'll be leaving for a short holiday to Turkey. It's the Ramadan holidays, called Eid, and these are pratically a bank holiday all over the Kingdom. I'll return to Riyadh on November, 10. During this week I'll visit Constantinopla and soon you'll be able to see the pictures on-line.
