Férias/Holidays

Fevereiro foi um mês especial para a comunidade portuguesa de Riade. Recebemos a visita da Tia Begi, do Tio Manuel e da Tia Madalena, do Tio Fernando e da Tia Isabel e do Manuel Maria.

Durante o tempo que cá estiveram houve uma agenda preenchidíssima de fazer inveja ao Príncipe Carlos de Inglaterra, que lhes permitiu uma verdadeira imersão nos hábitos, e cultura saudita. Também houve uma viagem ao Mar Vermelho e a Medain Saleh. Em Riade visitou-se o souq (mercado), os centros comerciais, os museus, Dariiyah, o festival de Janadria e tantos outros sítios.

Para tornar a agenda completa os nossos visitantes tiveram a sorte de ser entrevistados por um canal de televisão saudita e por um jornal. Foi uma agenda em cheio.

Nada disto teria sido possível sem o empenho e a dedicação de todos os amigos sauditas que tornaram tantas actividades possíveis. Em particular, jamais serei capaz de agradecer ao Saleh, ao Aziz, ao Muawia e ao Mubarak por tudo aquilo que fizeram. Muitos outros houve que também tornaram a estadia mais interessante como o Massad, o Ahmed, o Mubarak primo e os dois Hani. Por fim, como não poderia deixar de ser uma palavra de agradecimento aos Embaixadores de Portugal.

February was a very special month to the Portuguese Community of Riyad. It was with great joy that we received the visit of our family.

During their stay they had a royal schedule, which allowed them an immersion into the habits and culture of Saudi Arabia. They also travelled to the Red Sea, to Medain Saleh and in Riyadh they visited the souq (the market), the malls, the museus, old Dariiyah, the Jananadria festival and so many other places.

To make their agenda more complete our guests were very fortunate to be interviewed by a Saudi TV channel and by a Saudi newspaper.

None of this would have been possible without the dedication and love of all of my Saudi friends who made so many activities possible. In particular, I'll never forget and I'll never be able to thank enough Saleg, Aziz, Muawia and Mubarak for all they did. Many others have also contributed significantely to make our family visit a nicer one like Massad, Ahmed, Mubarak cousin, and the two Hanis. Finally, a very special thanks to the Ambassadors of Portugal.
