Fujeirah
Depois de tantos fins-de-semana passados no escritório finalmente a oportunidade para relaxar e usufruir um pouco daquilo que os Emirados têm para oferecer. No sábado passado fomos a Fujeirah, um Emirado que dista a cerca de 1h30m de distância do Dubai. O objectivo era o snorkeling.
Pelo caminho passámos num mercado local, onde obviamente parámos para ver o que se vendia, e para aproveitar comprar alguma coisa para se comer. Mesmo sendo Ramadão não hesitamos em provar a fruta no meio da rua.
O snorkeling foi muito giro. A visibilidade era boa e a temperatura da água estava absolutamente fantástico. Deu para vermos uma tartaruga enorme, um tubarão e peixes e peixinhos coloridas das cores, tamanhos e feitos mais variados.
À vinda visitamos a mesquita mais antiga dos EAU que data de circa 1550. Obviamente, que a Sofia sendo mulher teve que se cobrir. O melhor que se arranjou foi uma toalha de praia. E lá estou eu a fingir que estou a rezar.
After so many week-ends spent at work finally a break to enjoy the outside freedom and the possibility to enjoy what the UAE has to offer. Last Saturdar we went to Fujarih, which is an Emirate located about 1h30 away from Dubai by car. The goal was to go snorkeling.On route we stoped in a local market, and despite being Ramadan we couldn't resist to taste the nice fuit being sold.The snorkeling was great fun. The visibility was good and the sea temperature was fantastic. We saw a huge turtle, a shark, and a huge variety of coloured fishes of all shapes and forms.On the way back we visited the oldest most in UAE circa 1550. Obviously, Sofia had to cover herself and the only thing we had was a beach towel!
Dubai e Lusofonia/Dubai and Lusophony
No Dubai há, que eu saiba, duas skylines. Uma localizada mais perto do centro antigo, outra junto à zona onde moro e trabalho. Esta última é commummente conhecida como, a Marina, porque é que aqui qui fica a mais nova marina do Dubai.
A vista que se tem à noite do meu escritório para este conjunto de blocos é impressionante. Tentei retratar essa visão nas fotos abaixo, mas infelizmente não consegui capturar o espeactáculo em toda a sua grandiosidade.
Não páro de me surpreender com a quantidade de portugueses que encontro neste país, mas sobretudo com a quantidade de lusíadas. Os nomes portugueses proliferam por toda a parte, sobretudo entre indianos, pessoas do sri lanka, quenianos, malaios e por aí fora. É verdadeiramente impressionante constatar o impacto que o Império Português do Oriente teve nesta parte do mundo, e como ainda se faz sentir.
Não admira por isso que nos primeiros jogos da lusofonia que estão a decorrer em Macau neste momento, a Índia, e o Sri Lanka também façam parte.
In Dubai there are, as far as I know, two skylines. One located closer to the old city center, the other located in the area where I work and live. This last one is known as "The Marina", since it is here that the new Dubai marina is located.The night view one can enjoy from my office to the bundle of buildings is truly amazing. I tried to depict that vision in the photos bellow, however I wasn't able to grasp all of its splendour.
I do not cease to get surprised by the amount of Portuguese people I find in this country, but especially, with the huge number of Portuguese descents. The Portuguese names are easily found everywhere, and very common among the indians, sri lankans, malayans, quenians, and so on. It is truly impressive to realize that the impact of the Portuguese Empire of the Orient is still strongly felt in this part of the world.
It is therefore no suprise that in the 1st Games of the Lusophony, taking place in Macau at this moment, India and Sri Lanka also take part.
Aventura aquática/Water adventure
Um dia de fim-de-semana bem passado na praia do Hotel Óasis. Após continuada insistência da Bianca resolvemos experimentar o ringo boat. Foram vinte minutos bem divertidos.
A lovely day spent at the beach of the Oasis Hotel. After a continued effort from Bianca we eventually tried the ringo boat. It was 20 minutes of great fun.
